I recently caused a very small amount of damage to my kitchen floor.  My kitchen is 4.05m x 2.86m.
United Carpets quoted me £200.  A local company have quoted me £350 - I prefer this vinyl.  I called back today and asked for itemised quotes and they provided this:

Vinyl: £437 (£26 per meter squared).
Door bars: £7
Spray adhesive/sealant: £21
Fitting/dispose of old vinyl: £110
This comes to £575.  Then they tell me there is a discount applied of £225 (39%!) to get a quote of £350.

There is no discount specified on the quote, so I wander if they have just inflated the prices to try and hide them? The vinyl is called: Comfytex Deluxe cushion floor in colour Brighton 594.  I think this is it: https://floormart.co.uk/leoline-comfytex-deluxe-brighton-594/
I would be grateful for thoughts.

  • On  their website it shows that price is 17.39   pre sq m and you can chose 3 m  width in 4.1 or 4.2 length so not much off cut waste but more than enough to work with. Seems like they inflated vinyl price artificially to make it look more competitive, but with made up discount it comes to what one would expect to pay  to cover 12 m2 kitchen floor with something decent, so even though the way they got to that quote is somewhat questionable, final price is about right.you can get a lot cheaper floor cover , you can also get more expensive one. Fitting of that size kitchen is about 100 -150 in labour ( depending on your and fitters location , maybe some levelling or prep ) and the rest is actual material and that  depends on what you want.

How would you compare the vinyl in my original post (https://floormart.co.uk/leoline-comfytex-deluxe-brighton-594/) to this (is the vinyl in the link better quality)?:

I don't know any of them or what quality are they, just get what you want.  For that price and with changing fashion , it can always be changed  some 10 years later...  Get what YOU like, one thing I 'd add - check and touch with your fingers - don't  get something really soft for kitchen -  any dropped knife or broken glass/ plate can damage it far too easy, something harder will last longer. It does not need to be industrial strength,  normal domestic quality is more than enough, only avoid really soft ones - if it squeezes  easily when you press your fingers  it's too soft.
