Interval International will not refund even though hotel is closed

I have a timeshare and that provides access to Interval Interntional (owned by Marriott). I booked two weeks at a hotel (non-refundable) that has emailed me to tell me that they will be closed, therefore I cannot visit. I realise that if I cancel it is not refundable, but if they cancel, surely it is different?! I called Interval and they will only give me a credit, and not a refund. They said to have a refund, I need to claim on insurance. I do not think this is right, does anyone know what the precedent could be. Covid is playing with us all!

I am sure you will be using Interval again so why do you not want a credit? Otherwise claim on your travel ins and pay an excess.

This hotel that you booked via Interval, did you pay for it with physical £ funds or paid with some sort of timeshare points?0
