create a single word link in a post

i often see replies in posts that contain a word like 'here' in blue that when clicked on take you to a specific web page rather than pasting the whole URL into your post. how do people do this, particularly on this forum? i have googled it but must be searching for the wrong thing as not found a simple answer yet!

many thanks.

    Type some text.
Highlight the text you want to include the link.
Click on the url tool in the header (a chain icon).
Type or paste the webpage address you want to link to.
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:
  • Hi,
right click on target page link and copy, return to message and type the word you want to use as the 'command' word and highlight, then click the little chain link icon, top of message box, and paste.

    many thanks.
do you know how would you do the same thing if not in a forum reply (eg in a word document or email)?
  • Hi,
same idea, depending on doc/email, find the add link/hyperlink icon, usually a chain link like on this site or a globe with a link, like some of these.

In Word, Outlook etc you can highlight the word/phrase then right-click and select the Link option from the context menu. Simply paste in the URL of the link in the box that pops up. :)

For those who prefer keyboard shortcuts, Ctrl-K open the hyperlink dialoge box in Outlook (not sure about Word).
