It looks as if the sleepy stick was on strike last night, I'm another who didn't sleep well - and I had a song from Esben's Sing and Sign class going round in my head. He's very cute when he uses his signs although he only has about half a dozen consistent ones, the most useful one is the sign for milk, which he uses for water as well. He's gone for a nap (fingers crossed) so I'm able to have a few minutes of laptop time, although I ought to be doing some housework. They go home tonight though so I suppose it can wait.
I'm planning puy lentil and sweet potato pie for dinner, we've been quite meat heavy the last few days so veggie is the order of the day. We had an Indian takeaway last night which was delicious, it's a 20 minute drive away but worth it. It's not far from an upmarket spa and has photos of people like George Best on the walls from the days celebs used to go. Either it's not good enough for present celebs or they don't hanker after Indian takeaways any more because there are no recent pictures.
Chris and Crystal now have heating and a plumbed in washing machine so Crystal is revelling in the heat. Hopefully it won't be too long now until the room is finished.
Redruby, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for DD's house completion.12 -
Morning all. I slept well last night ( sorry to those who didn't, I'll hook the Sandman out of his lair ready for tonight and get him to polish his wand .......sorry that sounded rude !!) I also fell asleep on the sofa during yesterday afternoon. I don't normally have a nana nap so it was unusual for me and I only woke up when Mr Fix It started singing along with a film ( the mickey mouse song from Full Metal Jacket )It's a grey and rainy day so I'm going to be making apple and blackberry pie x 2 ( blackberries from my own garden and saved in the freezer) and 2 corned beef pies. I shan't bake them today but I shall put them ready in the fridge to cook tomorrow. I will put one of each in Dad's hamper and we'll have the others........ the spoils of war so to speakI'll add to the good news too if I may, as DGS's test came back negative, Yay !! The result was very quick here, 24hrs. Don't know why he's coughing though, he may be like me and cough at the drop of a hat, when the weather changes or even when it doesn'tTea tonight will be a HM curry and rice, should warm the cockles as it's that sort of day, just grey and wet
Followed by strawberries and cream.
Right I'd better go as my sous chef has cleared down the work top ready for me to do lots of chopping and peeling of those apples and potatoes.Hugs to all the poorlies, the families and pets.Mehefin glad to see you're still around.Take care all, stay safe and keep well.nan xFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13 -
Hello, I'm very late because the washing machine is leaking or rather gushing so I'm having to handwash and it has taken ages, mostly because the sink is small. I can spin though, it is the rinse cycle that is bored.
I have been good at moneysavingexpert this week. On Monday I took 2 new bras back to emm and ess as they were faulty, they started to fall apart after one wash. Had a refund and bought 2 very similar ones from a*da for half the price. Was quite surprised at the number of people wearing masks over their mouths but under their noses. Yesterday I made soup from leftover butternut squash and put the seeds on the birdtable, they have been eaten. Then was given some corms of elephant garlic. I would like to plant them in pots today but it is very wet.
Otherwise life just trundles along. RR good news on the house completion, Dumpling well done, everyone de cluttering well done too. Snoozer, hope Steve's eye is not too uncomfortable while he waits. Mehefin it is good to see you posting.
I must go and do a job or two.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14 -
Another latecomer, though I was up at the usual time to get the hound walked before the school children & traffic get going. I have just been out to post a card along the main road and went flying, I didnt see a spindly branch that had fallen & ended up full length on the pavement. I felt such a fool, particularly as the lights had just changed & a load of cars came past - no one stopped though! I'm ok -picked myself up and posted my card, now sporting a muddy streak,I'll have to ring my brother and explain that. Thought I'd walk through the park before it rains and got chatting to a lady I used to see on the bus sometimes. She lives alone and as I was going, she said she'd enjoyed talking to me, I'm glad I helped brighten her day if I'm the only person she speaks to today.Yesterday I defrosted the chest freezer ,didnt mean to really, I had plans to iron
Wrote down what meat was in there to help my meal plan. Took out a big bowl of corned beef hash so we're having pie tonight too. Also made soup with frozen veg past their best, was going to have that shortly but DH has just rung to say he's coming home after going to the chippy first
As expected we've gone into T3. Not that it's that much different here , with the extra restrictions we were under until recently. I do feel for the many small businesses that are bound to go underRight better warm some plates, take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
