Does anyone know if you get 5 points for every full £4 spent ie if I spend £3.99 I get nothing. Is it per transaction or on the monthly total?0

I can confirm that the points are calculated per transaction
The transaction value is multiplied by 1.25 (John Lewis / Waitrose) or 0.25 (other) and the points rounded down to the nearest integer
Each point is worth 1 p0 -
For me, the real USP for this card is that you can use it in the JL bureau de change and get foreign currency without it being treated as a cash advance. And you also get points on it. And JL are already very competitive with their exchange rates.
True, not quite so much foreign travel happening right now, but it will be back before too long...0 -
Guess it depends on where you live/your other options but even with most the FX shops in London still being closed and factoring in the 1.25% points (which isnt as good as 1.25% cash) you are still a little out of pocket -v- using another exchange and not buying the currency on a credit card.ratechaser said:And JL are already very competitive with their exchange rates.0 -
Fair point, but as I live 5 minutes walk from a JL with an open bureau, it works for me! Yes I do also use my Nationwide CC, as that gives you the near perfect FX rate, but many places I travel still need a fair amount of cash for smaller transactions, and even restaurants that don't take cards. Maybe I'm just not going to classy enough establishments!Sandtree said:

Its much more country specific than that; during our recent holiday even the local shack bar took cards, in fact it was only taxis that didn't that we came across. Whereas in a nice steakhouse in NYC not that long ago they were still using a clickclack machine for card payments.ratechaser said:

Its always sensible to take some cash just in case; though will stick with FX bureau than rely on the JL rewards to try and get close to the rate given by the dedicated exchanges.0 -
Better loyalty cards on the marketDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
