Car insurance claim and Auxillis

Hi,
This is my first insurance claim so I'm new to all this and after reading about Auxillis on this forum I'm little on the edge.
I have stopped on red light and was stationary and someone hit me from the back. I have contacted my insurance company (sainsbury's bank) and they put me in touch with Auxillis.
Auxillis, provided two local places where I can have my car repair (damage to rear bumper) and send me link to online account to accept all documents. They want to provide me with hire car (I need car every day). After reading some of documents on there website I'm little scared that this is all "credit" and they will recover this from 3rd party. I didn't sign any documents yet, just selected repair garage and they already send me a link to provide pictures. What would you recommend? Should I contact 3rd party insurance (Aviva) or go back to my insurance and go with them instead? I'm assuming they like to use Auxillis in non at fault cases.

If you call aviva they may be happy to deal with you directly and you can get your car repaired at their repairer or one of your choice. They should also supply a hire car which won't be on 'credit hire' so would be low risk to you. If there is any dispute over liability then I would claim through your own insurer underwriter.0

Assuming you havent been contacted by Aviva you have three choices... the accident management company, your insurers or the third party insurers, the later only being available if there is no dispute on liability. They are listed in what would be my preference from lowest to highest.
Note however if you go down any route other than your own insurers you have no access to the Financial Ombudsman if things go wrong... most the time a simple repair doesnt go wrong but it may be a consideration for you.
If you go via your own insurers you are normally limited to a basic courtesy car from the garage which may or may not be a problem for you depending on your needs.
Credit hire gets a lot of bad press but from a user perspective the majority of claims go fairly smoothly. It does however add a lot of cost to claims and so ultimately is in part responsible for the increase in insurance premiums we all see.1 -
I had a claim go through Auxilis and it was incredibly painless, very professional and the easiest insurance claim I have ever made with everything claimed off the third party.
I may have been lucky but my experience was very positive.1
