easyJet chargeback

Hi all,
I booked flights to Poland with easyJet and return flights to the UK with Ryanair in August when there were no quarantine rules in place. The rules have since changed but we were still ok to travel and quarantine upon return.
Unfortunately, the Ryanair return flight has now been cancelled so we can no longer travel. It is within 14 days off the easyJet flight and that looks like going ahead. We cannot change the easyJet flights without a fee as it's within 14 days so I'm a bit stuck. Would a chargeback be an option? Would no prefer a voucher for the value of the flights if possible but easyJet have said there's nothing that can do if the flight goes ahead. Which is fair enough of course, this isn't their problem at all, but I'd rather not lose the money if there was a way round it which is fair.

No a chargeback isnt an option. What have Easyjet done wrong? Not their fault you booked 2 legs with 2 different airlines. Nor are the government restrictions their problem.

If the easyJet flight operates then neither they nor your card company will refund you, so you'd need to rely on having suitable cover within your travel insurance.1

chargeback will fail if flight operates
this is a risk when you book separate tickets....if both outbound and return were on same booking, one being cancelled would have meant you could get refund for both.0 -
As others have explained this is a pitfall of booking separate flights. Your bank won’t entertain the idea of a chargeback because the easyJet flight is still available.0

Your only option will be to pay another airline to travel or voluntarily give up your rights to travel on the Easyjet flight, you have no rights with Easyjet, as they have not breached their contract to you.
Wizz have sub-£50 returns (so £25 one way) to Poland right now, as probably do Ryanair and Easyjet on other dates, so if you want to travel (this is advice, not mandatory, so you are under no obligation to take notice of it subject to 14 day isolation just as airlines are under no obligation to cancel your flight) then this your only option. I travel on business frequently and can work from home on return, so have ignored the advice where necessary. Not everyone on a flight is going on holiday, as especially Poland sees a lot of VFR and business traffic.
Ryanair will give you the option to re-book on a different date for free in this situation, so this may be your best (and quickest) bet, so you're not out of pocket for however many years Ryanair wants to refund you.💙💛 💔0 -
Hi everyone, thanks for the advice. I knew easyJet had done no wrong, I was just looking for an escape route really but this clearly isn't possible. I'll just have to take the hit and be more careful with my bookings in future! Thanks all0
