Remove smart meter

Good afternoon,
I changed my standard ‘dumb’ (non prepayment) electric and gas meters to Itron V1 smart meters in 2019 by EDF. I have tried to revert both the gas and electric smart meters back to standard ‘credit’ meters however both my original energy supplier EDF and my current energy supplier Avro have claimed that due to OFGEM regulation and due to a lack of existing credit meters they cannot do this. A google search found plenty of 100A/80A credit meters.
I could always buy my old credit electric meter and my old credit gas meter and then contact Avro and get them to reinstall them.
Surely there is some way of forcing my current energy supplier Avro to either revert me back to a credit meter or physically disable the smart aspect of the smart meter? Please let me know, thanks,

You won't be allowed to do this. I would change supplier if the supplier won't change you to a better smart meter. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

I don't want a smart meter full stop. I want to revert back. Is there a supplier that will revert back to a credit meter?0

About the only thing you can do is request that it's smart functionality is turned off but you may end up paying a higher price for your gas and leccy. You could also change to a supplier who doesn't support smart meters and they'll then be dumb..
In the end you need a meter and it really doesn't make a lot of difference whether it's smart or dumb, black, white or green. I suspect that you would not be allowed to provide your own meter and I guess even if you were they'd charge a hefty premium to have it installed and calibrated.
May I ask what is your objection? Please dont tell me that you are afraid of the waves, radiation or that they are spying on you, especially if you are the proud owner of a mobile phone or computer,. Both of which spew out far more radiation than a leccy or gas meter and divulge more info about you than a leccy or gas meter can possibly generate (For instance they dont take piccies, send e-mails, whatsapps, surf the web or have GPS units built into them).Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers2 -
You could ask for the supply to be removed and the meter will be taken away.1

You had the right to refuse to have them installed, but once installed you cannot insist on the smart functions being disabled, nor can you insist on them being replaced by older dumb meters. You certainly can't get your supplier to install meters that you have purchased elsewhere...You can refuse to let them collect half-hour data though, but they still have the right to keep the other smart functions enabled.

All meters have one purpose - to record the energy used. It doesn't matter it its pink or blue, dumb or smart.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1
