10% Discount For One Day At M&S

THIS IS NOT ADVERTISED BY M&S.
Organise a group of friends for one big shopping trip to a M&S store, eg large items of furniture (some stores sell £1000+ furniture ), gifts for special occasions, clothing outfits for all the family, wine.
Apply for a M&S credit card in that store. Afterwards they will give you a temporary voucher and tell you that you will get 10% off one transaction in that store. No upper limit was given.
Collect everything together and pay for it at one cash desk, using any suitable credit card.
We were amazed that M&S do not publicise this to induce customers to apply for their credit card. We hastily bought as much wine and clothes as we could justify at such short notice.
With advance planning and cooperation with friends you could bulk buy for the group. Some months later another member could apply .......

This is my first post so perhaps I should have sent it to a more appropriate forum. I assume that posting to multiple forums is frowned upon. Grateful for any suggestions from experienced users. OK to email me with suggestions.

A lot of stores do this, some offer more on special days (USC recently did 25%), I've done this a few times then paid it off straight away and closed the account! Done it at JD's too. USC will give student discount on top of the extra 10%
2p off is still 2p off!

I hate to appear dim... but why change the habit of a lifetime, what is/are USC and JDs.

Not sure about JD's, but USC is a chain store selling overpriced designer goods to chavs. Admittedly I did get some decent stuff in their recent sale, but only because 70% off reduced it to £20 for a pair of trousers and £30 for a jumper.

    Edit: And isn't JD's a pub chain???
