    Thanks, so once that’s unscrewed I can remove the TRV and follow the advice above. Will attempt it today 
  • Just for absolute piece of mind, I may still apply the plumbers mate. It’s not a reliable fix by the sounds of things but it won’t hurt I guess. 
  • FYI the stuff I have is Araldite rather than Plumbers Mate, but they seem much the same, and it should do just as good (or bad) a job as the latter...
  • Have applied the Araldite and it seems to be doing the job, although I have limited faith in it. Will only have the radiators on when I am I in, and as I said I plan to change them in a few months time anyway. Gave up on trying to lock it off myself...
