    Hi Poppy,

I don't know what else to say other than you are in my thoughts. I think the worst bit is the not knowing so hopefully now you will be a little clearer on what is going on.

I'll be thinking of you xx

the dr is ringing later today with the results I am terrified by it DH is different to me and says what will be will be and worrying wont change it I know he is right but I can't help myself I was awake most of last night I always imagine the worst and hope for the best its just the way I am.

I think we all always imagine the worst possible scenario? I know I do

And no matter what it is that the doc comes back with the good thing will be that you KNOW what is wrong and will be able to do something about it.

Not knowing what is wrong when you are suspicious is far worse than knowing what the problem is and finding a solution.

I hope the outcome is a good one & hugs to you all. :)

  • Thanks for all your support guys,

Sorry it has taken so long to let you know what was said it has been all go here.

The Dr from the hospital rang last night at about 7pm he said Josh has very low iron levels and has anaemia he is faxing our GP to get him prescribed an iron supplement he thinks that is the root cause of his problem.

All other results such as liver function etc are normal apart from his folic acid level which the normal range is 2.2 and Joshs level is 19.2 he is slightly worried as it could be an indication of prenitious anaemia (sp?) starting but it is not a certainty something he will monitor but he wants to see him in a month to review and then another blood test in 3 months to see how things are.

Developmentally he thinks his slowness is down to his anaemia but will also monitor this.

Whilst Josh does have something wrong and is poorly I am hoping this is it and he can now get better I am relieved it is nothing else nothing more sinister.

Thank you to you all again
    Poppy x

Hi, hope you feel less worried now. Is it Pernicious Anemia that the Doc mentioned? I have a young relative with that and she has to have injections every 3 months (Vit B12 I think), but other than that she's fine. Take care.

I'm glad it's something which looks like it'll be easily sorted for Josh-it's such a worry when your little ones are unwell.
I think that once Josh starts on the iron supplement you'll notice a difference quite quickly, and you'll get your wee boy back again.
And good on you sticking to your guns and going with your instincts-there's a lot to be said for it xx

I'm so glad to hear that Josh has a treatable problem. I bet you see a major difference in him almost immediately after he has his first iron supplement x
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
  • Thanks for letting us know the outcome. I hope he starts to feel better very soon.
