I have been driving a motability car for the past 3 years and prior to that I had my own car.. I am now in a position to purchase my own car again, I have 10 years no claims but cannot remember my last insurer prior to motability, can anyone suggest what I can do..
Many thanks

Not much help I'm afraid but I can tell you DVLA do not hold the information.
Can you remember how you paid for the insurance in question? If it was by chq/credit card/debit card then check with your bank/credit card company to see if you can trace who you made the payment to.
Some insurance companies do not accept no claims bonus if they are over a certain time ago so you may not be able to use those from before you had motability car with a new insurer, but I'm not sure on whether the fact that you had Motability insurance may help.

call the new insurance company and tell them this, they will do the leg work if they need to know who your last insurer was....work permit granted!0

Even if you can't find the last insurer pre-Motability, many insurers will accept the 3 years driving under Motability as the equivalent of 3 years NCD, subject to a letter of confirmation from Motability that your driving was actually free of claims.
As far as adding to this 3 years with previous NCD is confirmed, I can only echo the advice given by the previous posters - search for old policy documents or credit/debit card statements.goldspanners wrote: »call the new insurance company and tell them this, they will do the leg work if they need to know who your last insurer was.
No they won't! They will ask you for proof, and if you cannot provide proof in a specified time limit (or at least the name of the insurer/policy number), they will remove the NCD from your new policy and charge an additional premium to continue cover.0
