O/S Daily Tuesday 20 October 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, but dry underfoot at the moment, rain forecast later.
DH getting ready for work, DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was butcher's pork chop, mash, veg and gravy for the menfolk. I had baked fish, mash and veg - both the pork chops and the fish were from freezer stock - I'm trying to use up what we have as we'd like to purchase half a pig but at present don't have enough freezer space.
Yesterday work was ok, back to it today.- once I'm finished today then just tomorrow and then on days' off. The weeks seem to be flying by.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all up early as i thought i might get a head start so i could go to the local shopping centre to look for stocking fillers but i have to say with each passing minute the idea is looking less likely to happen I have also realised its half term maybe next week looks more promising I think on balance staying home to wash the floors is more likely to happen . DS and DH are up and gone to work DS is not happy at the moment as he said he wanted to work 5 days with 2 off didn't have to be weekends but as per usual this company is 7or 8 on and then if he is lucky 1 off he worked for this company before and wasn't happy as he has aspergers albeit very mildly he struggles we have given our advice but he needs to find his own way I just worry about the effect it has on his mental health. Right other than that not a lot is happening dog needs walking in a bit then just back to the same old daily chores tonight is pie night in the Bella house so will get on with making that . Have a good day whatever you are up to xxSlava Ukraini13

Morning All
Still wet out but not as windy as yesterday, the trees were just about stripped bare it was so rough. I had to get out my winter coat yesterday, may need to find some wellies too!
I sold some card making things I had been given, I had no idea what to do with it all and don't have any interest in it anyway, the lady seemed very pleased and I have another cupboard with space in so everyone's a winner. I have an antique table that I no longer want to keep, hoping a local auction house/antique shop will take that. I've ordered a shelving unit for the space the table is in which should arrive on Saturday, quite looking forward to the change.
Work was very busy yesterday, hoping for the same today as the day flew by although I was quite tired by the time I got home.
Happy Tuesday, take care. XX13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The rain forecast for today seems to have been postponed until tomorrow. I'll take that, especially as a milder day is forecast too. I might pop in town as I suddenly need a few bits. All of which I can get in Poundland so no trailing around to do. Both the Clicker lighter for candles and button batteries for scales need replacing.
Yesterday I managed to get off my arris for a little while and did the bit of ironing in the basket and then sorted out the airing cupboard. I had no idea what was bagged up in the top cupboard. Mainly spare duvet covers varying from single, double to superking size. I doubt any of them will come in again so may all end end up in a cs bag.
Apparently there are talks under way about us moving up to Tier 3. Considering we have been in the equivalent of the Tier 2 we are in since early August, with no reduction in cases, this seems inevitable, I hope this doesn't lead to the same wrangling as Manchester..
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care and stay safe. We are saving your seat on the bench NAN until you are released. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Good morning, dark and damp here.I heard that we might move to tier 3 as well TA, in 2 at the moment. So it goes on.I want to stay in today, there's quite a few jobs to do here, and I don't need to go out for anything.Took a bag to the chazzer yesterday, but I still feel we could get rid of more stuff, the trouble is we both have hobbies that seem to need an awful lot of bits and pieces, and I think you always fill the space you have.Like NMLC, I'm trying to get freezer stocks down, so I'll rake about later to discover what delicacy I can find for tea, stuffed chicken breast might be an option. Occasionally we end up with different meals when I'm trying to use things up, the other night DH had hm meatballs in tomato sauce with rice, and I had chicken curry, so that used 2 single portions.Sorry to hear your DS is troubled about work Bella, hope it resolves, glad I'm retired and don't have all the hassle anymore.Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks14

Good morning everyone.Another typical autumn morning here. There are some glorious trees just blazing with colour just now until the wind takes its toll. There is still rain though it wasn't as bad as forecasted. The physio session yesterday was very good. She gave me two new exercises to do so I'll get stuck in. On the way back I picked up a loaf of bread and a greetings card. Such excitement!Today I'm going across to Ibrox, the home ground of Rangers, to hand over an item I'm donating to a charity for fund-raising, I'm looking forward to it. Haven't been there for years and years. Seems I'm doing a unexpected tour of football stadiums this week as my physio is based at Hampden Park. After that, who knows. DM wasn't too good yesterday and spent the whole day in bed. It's a rollercoaster. I think I'll rewatch Strictly, I really enjoyed it on Saturday. Then I'll catch up with Roadkill which I missed.I read about so much clearing out of cupboards here, I must try to do more here. DM has the mind of a hoarder though all the stuff is out of sight and in boxes. Still makes to a nightmare to go through. There's one shoebox full of Cardinal Red polish which hasn't been needed by her for more than 50 years. 🤔 It has to all go.Now, I wish everyone a happy Tuesday.14

Morning everyone
Dull and drizzly here, but the forecast says it will stop - hoping it does as I've just put bedding in the wash and had planned to do the towels too.
I had little one to stay Sunday night till I went to work yesterday lunchtime.
I took her for a walk with her reins on. First there was the excitement of wearing her wellies....then of walking and stopping every 2 seconds to look at a stone on the ground or a bush in a garden. We walked along a path which has flowers planted along each side and ends at a big field. She sniffed every flower, spotted a snail and then a worm and the ran into the field of corn stubble...shouting and laughing. It was lovely to watch how happy she was doing something so simple.
Well I'd better move myself...I'm not at work till lunchtime and have jobs to do. Hope everyone has a good day.

Thanks for the thread Nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Raining here so Beano won't want long walks. I need to give someone a lift later and finish cleaning the bathroom, ok hope it brightens up enough to crochet later.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.13 -
Morning
Well if nothing else this year we will all have less cluttered housesOn much the same mission here and it is making a difference slowly. If you've seen the Ikea advert with the tortoise well that's me ...heck I even walk like him
Made a chilli this morning for the slow cooker so thats brewing away for later
Had a 2hr call with my Duracell bunny customer yesterday. He's very hard work but I think we made progress if he gets this job I want a large cut of the pay riseas he lives in Wales his offer of a meal out is very clever though he can't escape and i cant go there so looks like it will be a Maccy Ds on delivery for both.
Today I need to to swish the bathrooms then some care calls so the day will whizz by.
Have a good day all13 -
GERS I rewatched Strictly again yesterday too! I thought the Beeb made a brilliant job of it considering the circumstances. In fact I thought it was better as the old format had got a bit stale. And your DM's clutter is on a par with mine. All boxed up out of sight! The pruning of my DM's pottery, crockery and glassware is now at a standstill and I must get back to it.

Hi everyone,
Been missing for the last few days because we have had Laura, Brian and Esben here and I don't get on my laptop. But I just thought I'd report in on Steve's eye, it turns out it's not a cataract but an epiretinal membrane which distorts the vision. It can be removed, but a more extensive and expensive op and apparently he will then develop a cataract within a year which will need removing. So he's decided to wait for the good old NHS and has been referred by the gp to Moorfields, apparently waiting will not make it any worse.
We are still tier 1 but Laura and Brian are now tier 2 (but were here before Saturday), however, looking carefully at the rules we can still meet because of their need for childcare now that Laura is working again.
Better go, the small one is looking for attention.
