Onedrive photo issues

Options
Hi all.  I've got all of our photos stored on Onedrive with shortcut links to them on my laptop.  They all have the little blue cloud next to them to say that they are stored in the cloud.  However, if I double click on one of them to preview it, it downloads it and then there's a tick in a circle to say that it's downloaded.  A little popup appears in the bottom right hand corner and I've clicked 'Block' in that to stop the app from downloading photos but it still does it next time I do try and open one. I've been digging around online to find a way to stop this but can't find anything.  Can anyone help?

  • Probably not what what you want to hear
But if it were me, I would just move them to a more photo friendly cloud- like Google Photos
They become much more useful  then - i.e. searchable by content, grouped by persons name based on face recognition , sub albums can easily be created & shared with different groups of people
