I wouldn't be surprised if they try it around payday, sadly, and by contacting the bank you are at least protecting yourself.💙💛 💔0 -
Unless you did something totally stupid I don't see how you can be responsible for anything for just changing the time clock. In the worst possible case you would not be responsible for the entire boiler, maybe a small contribution (possibly depending on provable age).I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0

Thanks again for advice.
I have also heard, maybe just to scare me, that Airbnb wait 6 months for you to pay and then sell the debt to bailiffs.
Also the LL sent a message, telling us Airbnb’s insurance has paid the LL already, so is Airbnb I need to worry about, I think.0 -

Debt collectors is the term that you're looking for. In reality they have very few powers and likely this won't go anywhere near a court.
If Airbnb want to pay for the upgrades to the LL's property from their own pocket, this is their problem. You have not been negligent and I doubt as long as you tell a court what you've told us that any judgement will be ordered against you.
It is not your responsibility to pay for capital improvements to someone elses property. You will, however, as a matter of goodwill need to attempt to settle the matter by pointing this out to Airbnb.💙💛 💔1 -
Ok thanks.
I will keep you updated.1 -
Whilst I don't think you have any liability whatsoever ... at the very worst you'd owe the LL the cost of a working, used, umpteen years old boiler. (How much would one of those be? £50, £100 tops?) You'd not be liable in any way for the cost of a new boiler as that would be betterment.
i.e. the same liability as you'd have if you'd rented a house under a tenancy agreement.0 -
Am I the only person who think that the Op might not be telling the full story?
My apologies if you have given the full story Op, it just sounds unlikely that a landlord would claim you damaged a valve or that AirBnB's insurance would pay out for a damaged valve without any evidence whatsoever - especially if you claim not to have touched the valve at all. I could be wrong.4 -

Im guessing Airbnb sell some type of insurance to the LLs, so the LL has told us that they are cover, but Airbnb are trying to reclaim the money from us. It’s seem more like the LL has told us, the valve is damaged but not Airbnb, just the final result.
If a property is rented, is there a law, saying the boiler need changing every 10 years or so?
