This is the recipe we use. However we substitute the chocolate chips for chopped up Mars bars or similar.

I did see the bake off and even mine are better lol, I only make them plain using the Be-ro recipe. I’m going have to give theses a go, I have never put coffee in mine so will try one of the ones with coffee. I think I will try that next, I did try whisking the mixture before adding the flour but that didn’t workTreat other's how you like to be treated.

On the other hand, if you happen to like Nutella, you might want to give these a try - yummy. (From Good Housekeeping - and it is a keeper!)

Agreed. Coffee brings out the taste of the chocolate, and walnuts would add a nice bit of texture but hazelnuts and Brazil's would also be good. I've not eaten confectionary / cakes since May, just went off it. I used to love a strong coffee cake or sharp lemon drizzle on particular - not that I was ever that selective!! - but I can't see myself indulging ever again.Pollycat said:harrys_nan said:I did see the bake off and even mine are better lol, I only make them plain using the Be-ro recipe. My mother-in-law bakes the most delicious brownies - mine are never as good
The Recipe
Take a small bowl and melt 150g butter and 150g chocolate (at least half should be plain) over simmering water. Leave it to cool slightly. Then beat together in a seperate bowl 2 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla extract and 175g caster sugar - until creamy looking. Then sift in 100g plain flour, tablespoon of drinking chocolate and a quarter of a teaspoon of salt.Add 100g walnuts and then the chocolate and butter mix - but don't beat it. Transfer to cooking dish (maybe a 7'' square pan) and cook for 18 mins in a moderate (gas 4 or equivalent) oven.
