Switching time, but prices seem high
Doing my annual 12m switch, prices look high. The best electricity deal on the website works out as £594, this is £100 higher than last year and the highest since I started keeping records in 2012.
Are prices really this high or am I switching at a bad time...?

They do seem to be creeping up but there are still good deals to be had if you look for them - what is the tariff you are looking at. The price per year is meaningless. Its the price per kwh and the daily standing charge that is important.
My latest supplier swap has increased my rate by 0.25p/kwh which equates to an extra £18 a year for me, however the s/c has gone down by 2p = £7.30 so I'm about £10.70 worse off.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
The MSE switching club's best deal is So Energy 12m fix at 14.26p/kWh and 22.05p/day standing charge. I based my price per year on using 3,600kWh/year, it's been pretty constant over the last decade (despite getting cavity wall insulation).0

Admittedly that's a variable tariff, but 12 months fixed is available from Symbio at 14.324p/kWh and 15p/day, green. at 14.174p/kWh and 18p/day, and Neon Reef at 14.751p/kWh and 13.28p/day.Do the sums. You're wasting a lot of money !0

I'm in the process of switching to Octopus and should be with them by the end of the month. I'll also be receiving £100 credit into my energy account because I was referred by a friend, who will receive £50.
Added to that, Octopus appears to have a 5 star rating for customer service and they don't charge exit fees, so if you're not happy you can just leave. I'm leaving E.On who have been absolutely useless and impossible to contact. They have ignored my emails - until now, when I am on the brink of leaving.
I'm finding it more and more difficult to find a decent energy supplier, don't know what I'm going to do next time!
