Best way to recycle/sell my laptop & wipe it clean?

Options
I’m wanting to get rid of a laptop as I’m getting a new one. I don’t necessarily have to make any money from it by selling it just as long as it’s recycled properly. It works and that but needs a tidy up and clean. Any suggestions of what to do with it?

Plus how do I wipe it clean? It’s Windows 10 that installed when I got it originally.

Take out old HDD and replace it with an inexpensive SDD. Keep the old HDD and it's data in your possession.

Otherwise use Darik's Boot & Nuke and then clean install Windows 10 to the HDD.
  • Yeah there’s no way I’d be able to do that myself. (Take HDD out)

    I’ll try the other option.
  • Hi,
it could be as simple as a couple of screws.

Copy any data (photos, documents) off the disk to somewhere safe.
Boot from a Linux "Live" DVD, re-format the HDD, copy loads of files onto it until full, repeat.

?? Seriously?? What are you thinking? Why not just run a program that will complete the task much more efficiently?

During lockdown, BBC Radio Stoke were appealing for unused 'digital devices' for refurbishment and redistribution.
I gathered together about 8 in total - https://www.crccic.co.uk/ they even collected them.

If you can handle a screwdriver then it won't be that difficult.

Send it to the Turin Trust and it will be securely wiped and put to good use.  Yes you can send just one laptop.    https://turingtrust.co.uk/give-computers/

    Not what you asked but....

Loads of how to videos on youtube,  many laptops are very easy to do basic work on.

    what model is it
You may find that upgrade to SSD  add some memory it will work fine

Might not even need a new one depending what you use it for.
