Moving into a new house share Credit check by landlord

Hello,
Just in the initial stage of about to sign a tenancy agreement, provide employment proofs etc to the landlord, he mentioned a credit check which got me wondering.
I was always under the impression a credit check is for credit and my credit report mentions nothing of rental payments ever, I know there is identity checks and AF checks and many others.
Does anyone know if this will be a full credit check or have had any experience ?
The property is from spareroom ad, deal direct with landlord, no agency fees or involvement.
Thanks all
