I was thinking of positioning a hanging bird feeder outside of my first floor bedroom window to the front of the house.  I thought that way I might sometimes see birds feed from my bed.

Since I would have to climb a ladder to fit a hanging bracket I wanted to get your opinions first. What do you guys think? Any issues with that positioning?

I saw these online and they are a brilliant concept!

The issue I have is that I have had mixed success with suction cups staying stuck in my bathroom. I would be really worried about adhesion being lost; and finding a shattered mess on the ground outside my house.  Otherwise they look like they would be brilliant fun to watch the birds feed from.

That’s very kind of you to say. Thank you. Any successes I am having with improving my new home and garden are really down to the wonderful advice I am receiving on this platform in response to my many, many threads posted asking for advice and recommendations on various topics.

  • Oooh, that's a nice feeder!

Coming back to your question about a window feeder, I had one but the birds completely ignored it. Completely.

The window feeders down side is that the birds will be frightened off by your movement within the room.

Another thing for all us bird lovers to mindful of is the Sparrowhawks, Buzzards too here.

The more 'open' the feeders are the easier it will be for prey to watch them and then pick them off one by one 😥

Put your feeders in, or close to, bushes and trees - the feeders are for the birds, not for our own entertainment.

I visit one house where the homeowners watch as the sparrowhawk swoops down onto the feeding masses and takes them away for his own feast,  😥   ..... sorry all,  but i'm not a fan of placing feeding stations et al where the birds can be watched 😣

I think I'd rather have a sparrow hawk. At least I wouldn't have Walnut & Oak sprouting up in my garden in random places. No idea where that r****y squirrel is getting walnuts - I don't know of any trees anywhere near here.
