Yes, your plumber will need pipe - and he'll have lots of it on him :-)
Funnily enough, we almost went with a dark grey timber laminate as we also have anthracite bifolds and windows in that room. However, we chickened out and played safe going for a med-oak laminate (Wickes' Aspiran Oak - can thoroughly recommend it) and white walls. Oak, white and anthracite - classic combo :-)1 -

I can't offer any design tips I'm afraid as that's something I've always struggled with. Our initial thoughts about dark grey laminate was because we plan to have composite decking on the outside, and a charcoal colour for that was our preference - it would suit the general 'black and white' of our old bungalow, and we thought the continued theme would work. But then we feared it would be too dark...
Very pleased we went with the Asprian Oak, tho', as it's really warm and sets off both the white and anthracite frames and rads;
Colour of suitable carpet? No idea - sorry. Perhaps take a sample of your chosen laminate with you to a carpet shop?0 -
Great to see a picture. I’m very much going for a black and white theme to match the building and the masses of kitchen appliances I already seem to have. In fact if anything I feel I need to tone I’m down on the black. I’m swaying towards a shiny’ish silver coloured carpet I guess, I think it will go well with these radiators and work well with a medium brown floor such as yours which will be elsewhere.

Thanks JIL and Hopper - yes, we are very lucky with our voos.
I doubt you'll find quality designer rads cheaper than that - I was really surprised at how reasonable they were, and delighted (and relieved) when they arrived that the quality was very high.
I find there's a surprising difference between actual 'black' and 'anthracite', with the latter being quite warm in tone whereas black can be quite stark (tho' not always). It all depends where and how it's used, tho'. On the outside of our '30s bungalow, the walls are white and the timber facias pure black, and that works. Perhaps because the front of the house is 'traditional', I don't think anthracite facias would work there. On the back of the house where this 'modern' extension has been built, the exact opposite is true!
Google images is your friend, Hopper - search for such colour schemes and scroll through until you seem something you like. It might well be that less is more in the black department. We are very relieved that we didn't go for the dark grey wood flooring but played 'safe' with mid-oak. The dark grey would, I think, have been 'too much'!
The other good things about 'white' and 'anthracite' is that they are fairly neutral and can go along with many other colours, so you might find you'd prefer to live with a 'warm' carpet colour and still be able to add your anthracite/black accessories.
I always Google search - for days...!0 -
Yes I’m solid black on the outside too as per in keeping. Whats a warm colour of carpet? Will have lots of black accessories alongside the anthracite pieces so agree I should go slightly lighter on the flooring. Originally I wanted very dark brown floor but agree it might be too much alongside the black and the place suffers from natural lighting as it is so best to go lighter (but not too light...)0
