Storage heaters & immersion tank but no economy 7

That all looks fine, and NPower are part of E.On so in theory all you have to do is to ask them to move you to an E7 tariff from your current single rate tariff...You are on a single rate tariff at the moment?1

I'm on a single rate tariff yes (16.5p/kWh). If I can't find a decent E7 tariff from NPower (a quick look at a comparison website suggests 15p/kWh day time and 10p/kWh night time as one of their best), I assume it would be a simple process for a different supplier to take over? E.g. EDF have 19.2p/kWh day time and 6.3p/kWh night time and considering the heating and water is going to be a significant percentage of my bills, I think it would work out best overall? Thanks for your help, it's very appreciated.0

If you go elsewhere, pick one that supports the Secure SMETS1 meter that you have, Octopus for example.Otherwise it could be a more complicated process to get the meter switched over to E7 mode.... or get NPower to put you on an E7 tariff with no exit fees and once the meter is in E7 mode switch elksewhere1

get NPower to put you on an E7 tariff with no exit fees and once the meter is in E7 mode switch elsewhereis the best idea. Make sure they put the meter into E7 mode. Seems obvious, but point needs making!1

The top immersion heater should be off. Use only sparingly when the hot water has been exhausted and ideally replace its switch with a timer switch that gives you a 30/60/90 on period before switching off.0

Update this morning .. currently talking to someone from NPower via the online chat. They are telling me that they are unable to turn my meter into E7 mode.0

May need to go to plan b then and switch to someone else that knows how to operate Secure meters.Octopus are one, there are others. If you decide to go with Octopus then drop by the referral code forum on here and pick up a code from someone to get a bill credit.1
