Carers allowance, uc and benefit cap

If you add it now you should get the carer element added for this assessment period (and the benefit cap removed as a result). When you get a Carer's Allowance decision with the backdating you should tell UC again. You may struggle to get the carer element backdated (although you should) but even if you don't they should recalculate the previous payments to remove the benefit cap for the relevant assessment periods.rachy185 said:
That's great I found a section on the journal where I can declare so will go ahead today, I'm still in the assessment period until the 7th November so hopefully is added by then. Thankyou for clarifyingpoppy12345 said:It should be added for your next payment. Although as has been advised, backdating the carers element may not be that easy.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1 -
Have you declared that you are caring for your relative on your claim? Report a change and then caring for somebodyThats how you report the caring activity, UC should automatically pick up carers allowance is in payment, but you do still need to report the caring activity.0
