Replacement not refund for lost Amazon delivery

So, I bought a £500+ item from Amazon on prime day, it had nearly £200 off so a real bargain. Now it’s been lost by DPD and it’s looking like it will never arrive. I’m sure Amazon will simply refund and tell me to buy it again, and usually that is OK, but this time it will cost me £200 to do that. I obviously don’t want to spend the extra money for no good reason.
Am I entitled to get Amazon to either re-ship the item, or apply a credit for the cost difference so I can re order and pay the prime day price?
The annoying thing is, if it had been delivered but was faulty they would replace at no cost, so a lost delivery is worse than a faulty item. It doesn’t feel fair.

They're not going to credit you the difference, at best they will send you a replacement.0

It is up to amazon to choose0

Guess I’ll have to plead my case with them when I call to sort it out. I was hoping there was some consumer protection to persuade them to provide a replacement and not refund.
Well there’s still time for DPD to find it (lost between Hinckley and Nottingham somehow) and deliver it. Just not feeling optimistic.0 -
I had a similar kind of case a few years ago. I sent a polite email to the CEO's office advising of my dissatification etc etc and received a call back along with a credit for the difference. However the difference was only £60.

Hi - could you let me know how to contact the CEOs office ?
I'm in the situation where an item purchased on a lightning deal is faulty. I'm only being offered a refund. If I repurchase it will be more than £100 more, but I can't find anyone able/willing to issue a replacement as the price has increased, which is frustrating0
