PS3 as a media centre?

Has anyone tried using a Sony PS3 as a media centre? I was thinking about getting one and connecting it to a Sony LCD TV. I am not interested in playing games but would like to use it for web browsing, playing DVDs including Blu-Ray, playing mp3 files, internet radio, YouTube, and maybe downloading and playing DivX files.
It would be a lot cheaper than buying a PC as a lot of places are offering discounted or even free PS3s with Sony TVs. I would probably look for a bluetooth keyboard to go with it.
Does anyone tried this?

Hi,
I have the 60gb PS3 & I use it for pretty much what you explained but I did buy it mainly for gaming.
I have hundreds of mp3 albums stored on it which I can play through my TV.
I also have it set up so I can connect to the internet through my wireless router, which allows me to play games online & surf the net on my tv. Beware though that although you can visit most websites on the PS3 some functions are not available. ie if you visit the tesco website you cannot do your weekly shop - it just comes up with errors & the same with some online banking facilities.
I also have converted films into mp4 format & I have stored them on there also.

This is all looking very promising although the browser limitations are a little disappointing. Are bookmarks supported?
Is it possible to put a larger hard disk in a PS3 or attach an external one via usb? Alternatively would it be able to see a NAS drive?0 -
the hard disk can easily be upgraded, but im not sure if external HDD's are supported0
-
Can anyone confirm whether external hard disks are supported please?

The USB hard disk will have to be FAT32 for the PS3 to recognise it though0
