Overnight visits for children

I have just separated and my ex is going to have the children overnight for the first time in a couple of weeks. He lives quite far away now so he is planning to take them to a friends house near here. I am a bit worried about how safe an environment this will be as the children are still quite young and the friend is single with no experience of children. Do I have any say on where he takes them?
PS Some of the posts & links on this thread have been really helpful. Thanks!

Could your ex stay at your house for the night, or are there grandparents' houses nearby where he can stay with them?0

If he has parental responsibility for the children, then no, technically you don't (sorry if that's not what you want to hear). How old are the children? Is there a particular reason that you think their father won't be able to look after them, or is it just the location that concerns you? Are you able to discuss things at all with your ex?They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
What I always asked for was the address my ex was taking the DS's to...and also the name of who he was staying with...just in case of an emergency, of course

Can you suggest he takes "normal" bedding, a few toys etc?0 -
Unless there is a specific reason why you think they will not be safe there, I do not think the friend being single has anything to do with it. To me it sounds sensible of the father to not make the children travel too far, hopefully he can be trusted to look out for them. Obviously I don't know the full situation.0

does the friend have a 3 bedroomed house or are the children simply kipping on the sofa?, do you know this friend and have you met him or are the children staying round some strange bloke's house ? maybe a suggestion of staying round the granparents house also or a longer contact arrangement where he can take them back to his house, children are fine on long journeys as long as they have toys and snacks
