Caught out by switching
Whilst I felt paying just shy of £180 per month gas and electric via NPower was excessive the switch to Pure Planet with the intention of saving has been crippling. Although I thought I had compared and researched, I must not have done so adequately as it can be a mindfield. It turns out that with NPower you pay in regards to what you have used (ramping up charges aside). Whereas some companies including Pure Plant (where your only means of communication is through an AppBot) are charging in advance. This has resulted in two months of dual payments each totalling nearly £300 a month, one for previous use and one for pending usage. Be aware that changing can result in the overlap of payments that can place you in more hardship than you were before you switched!

You will find that the newer boys charge a month in advance - it helps cash flow.
PS Dual fuel is generally not the most financially beneficial to take your supplies.
PPS nPower = are you really such a high user ? What is your ACTUAL annual consumptions ? in kWh not FNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
This is very common practice, you still pay the outgoing supplier while making a payment (credit) to the new supplier.
