I've used a firefox add on, "youtube audio and video downloader" which allows just the audio to be downloaded. Haven't used it for a while but seemed ok.

Thanks for the reply, that's great - but I still have a problem if no one else has "nabbed" the audio and put it on Youtube!
Still don't know how to "rip" off the BBC Radio 2 sites (listed earlier).

Have you tried Audacity yet ( someone already mentioned it )
A simple as pressing Record, playing the file from the net ( youtube or bbc ) , Select File, Export , then Export as MP3 in Audacity once file stops playing
    It works fine

    Download : Audacity : https://www.audacityteam.org/

Edit : O h I see you have already tried Audacity but had errors
I would persevere with getting Audacity going - its goind to give you the flexibility going forward
  • Wow, thanks so much everyone! Especially HereToday  B)
I appreciate your efforts! I admit I forgot to check Youtube as most things end up on there! Have tried Youtube to MP3 sites but they are mostly full of pop-ups, redirects and malware attacks.
I'm still after the "Julian Lennon - full interview with Sean Ono Lennon (BBC Sounds Exclusive)" one but no one has that up on Youtube.

I've downloaded Audials 2020 but can't get it to work, some error message about my soundcard and missing drivers.
And I've tinkered previously before with Audacity but got a similar error message and not being able to record what my soundcard hears....
    Oh well, thanks again.
Lovely to come back on here and read these responses and for goodies in my "inbox", cheers!
