Train from London Euston to Crewe. Crewe to Liverpool via Chester (not sure if you have to change trains at Chester - you do from N Wales to Liverpool).
Or alternatively London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly then direct train to Liverpool Lime Street.
Get the details and fares from https://www.thetrainline.com

£1 , not knowing when you want to travel i just typed in 28/06/05 for 1 passenger , one way.............don't think you'll get cheaper than that

http://www.megabus.com/
08:45 Depart Liverpool, Adelphi
Arrive London Victoria, Greenline Coach Station 14:001 seat = £1.00"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page."

If it's cheapest then I second Megabus, and you get the excitement of not knowing if you're going to get one of their 20+ year old double decker busses or one of their brand new luxury coaches! Alternatively if you're booking long enough in advance then try National Express to see if you can get their Fun Fares. Could be slightly cheaper than Megabus as they start from £1 but no 50p booking fee!0

If your thinking of the train, then Virgintrains go from Euston straight to Liverpool. If you can book 14 or even 7 days in advance, then you may get a good deal. Takes about 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
There used to be a flight into London City airport.....not sure if thats still going though.0 -
Just checked out Virgin Value ticket for around 14 days time and its £24 return. Hope this is helpful!0
