Cruise full cruise credits

We had a cruise booked with P&O for june this year (2020).  In april this year we decided to move our cruise to june 2021, through full cruise credit.  Back in april we thought covid would be a memory next june (very short sighted of us), we are now concerned that if the cruise goes ahead it wont be the experience we booked for, ie. Not many ports of call, not able to get off the ship without a guide, a lot of social distancing.....we obviously wouldnt of booked this experience.  We have been told that if we cancel now we are not entitled to a cash refund it will be another full cruise credit.  Surely, if we are not getting what we had booked, experience, port of calls etc, P&O are not honouring their end of the agreement and we should get a refund?  I would be interested in peoples opnions.

    Surely that's not a call you can make at this stage.

    If the cruise gets cancelled or is significantly different, you'll have grounds for a refund.
  • Agree you will have to wait until much nearer time to see how things are then. If you cancel now you could be bound by the terms and conditions of booking and could lose whatever they state. Offering a full credit sounds pretty generous at this stage I would say but I would hang on to see how things are next June.  As previous says if the cruise Is cancelled you should be able to request a refund then. 
  • Myself and a friend booked ions maiden voyage almost 3 years ago and when it was cancelled we received a fcc in each of our accounts. At the time we were both happy to wait and book a future cruise.
    well almost a year has gone by since the fated cruise and my financial position has changed due to not being able to work and I need the money P&O has been holding now.
    I tried to apply for a refund of my cruise payment today and have been told by P&O over the phone that I cannot have a refund on my own.
    I have explained to them that one of their customers wants to get their money refunded, but that the other would like to retain their fcc and book another cruise. The money is allocated to our respective accounts and we each paid respectively so I do not understand why one of us should have a refund and the other continue to book another cruise. 
    Can anyone give me advice as to how to approach this problem.
    I think I am going slightly mad.....

  • All depends on the terms and conditions you agreed to.  Generally the only way you can get your money refunded if it is non refundable (and credit rarely is) if the rebooked holiday is cancelled. A change in circumstances does not qualify for refund. 

    Were p and o saying you could actually have a refund if your friend agreed? Unusual, but if that’s the case you need to persuade him/her you desperately need the money. If they can get the money back they are then free to book what they want.  

    Incidentally, might have been  better to start a separate thread to get more responses to your specific issue.

     I assume it is separate accounts for administration purposes on the cruise but one booking as  otherwise why would you mention the other person not wanting a refund?
