British Gas meter difficulty

Hi, I’m new to the forum and have a problem with British Gas. A tenant has just left a property I own. Unknown to me they had a prepayment meter fitted and I’m trying to get British Gas, the supplier to change it back to a credit meter. Having made several calls to them, and them saying the property doesn’t exist, they finally found it and I was told that the account had been changed to my name and that I needed to call back to arrange a
meter change. I called back and again, only to be told that the property didn’t exist!! After being passed around to different depts. they put the phone down on me.
does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get this meter changed

Hopefully you have been to the property and read the meters and taken photos of them. You need an account in your name so you handle the energy bills until the next tenant comes along. I don't think there is a concept of "changed account to my name". It should be "created a new account in my name". If you have any useful information, such as the tenant's account no, or the meter numbers etc., I suggest all you can do is call again and try to reach an intelligent life-form. I had to handle a vacant property between tenants a year or so ago, and I visited it weekly to read the meters.0

Sounds like the tenant had put it back in your name when they vacated. Did you not attend the property at checkout in order to agree final reads?
If you want the meter changing back, this will now be billed to you, not to the ex-tenant.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
