Strange letter from Homeserve

    It seems quite surprising they are refunding the full premium. I would have thought it would have been sufficient that they refund the increase. 

    Mind, it is a huge increase.

    Just received a similar letter from our car insurers (RIAS).

      Mr S was all over this at our last renewal - he keeps previous documents to compare, obtains other quotes, then rings insurer to say that he could get the same amount of cover elsewhere for cheaper - and what can they offer.  He got this year's insurance down to £5 less than last year's.

    The way I read this letter was that the insurance company had been required, by law, to print last year's premium next to the current premium, so those not as organised as Mr S could see that it had changed.  We just ignored the letter.
  • I received the same homeserve letter and after declining the £25 offer I was contacted by Customer Relations and they have refunded full years premium paid into my account. Don't accept first offer !!

    Are you sure that they haven't cancelled your policy?
  • I had already cancelled the policy before I received the letter.
