O/S Daily Thursday 15 October 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark and air feels cool.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work and I'm showered and dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge.
Dinner last night was beef stew and dumplings with broc and mushrooms and the last of the yorkshires. Tonight will be chicken, bacon and potato pie with side of veg.
Now on days' off and go back on Monday. I have several things to do so will just get those done.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC, enjoy your days off.Don't know what the weather's doing, we had yet more rain yesterday, had to have some lamps on it was so dark.Hey Tru, it's great to hear from you!! I was just thinking about you the other day, and your daily Christmas carol. Hope you can do it this year. I enjoyed reading your news, you seem to have had a lot going on, hoping you and Mr Tru are all right.Dumpling, it was good to hear from you as well, you're keeping busy, enjoy your walk.I had one of these days yesterday where I look round the house, everything looks dingy or past its best, or in need of some kind of attention. I think the mood has passed though, maybe I need a kick up the arris, and someone telling me to be grateful for what I've got !!I made quite a nice 21st card for my great niece last night, and will get it in the post early, there's a pick up at 9am from the postbox up the road. it's her birthday tomorrow, I thought it was next Friday, eek.I was out briefly yesterday, had to take yet another bottle of wee to the doctors, I think this one will be ok though.Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks15

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Still dark here but the forecast is for a nice day with some sunshine.
I feel as though I haven't been to bed. I couldn't get to sleep and tossed and turned all night. The usual worrying about stuff I can't change. Now I am like a wrung out dishrag.
I have a Bolognese Bake to make this morning but no girlies coming for tea so it's for a doorstep pick up when DD finishes work. Middle DGD has a ballet enhancement class and youngest is off on her new hobby! Playing golf! She's 10 and still a tiny little dot for her age but apparently is a natural! Her first attempt was at the driving range and they couldn't believe she had never played before. DD showed me a little video and she looked like a professional. She absolutely loves it, If and when her swimming club resumes she will have a choice to make as both on the same night.
If I cba I might make a head start on the Friday Tidy and do the kitchen and bathroom today. It will ease the burden tomorrow. Other than that no plans so the usual boring day of same old same old. Apparently there are talks underway with the local council about the likelihood of moving up into Tier 3. Won't that be fun!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care one and all and stay sane and safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning
Sleep evading again for some reason. Emptying the dishwasher at 5am is not to be recommended but least its done I suppose
Still dark here but the forecast is not bad for today.
Today I have some coaching work to do with one of my most demanding customers who in his infinite wisdom has decided to go for a very senior job in his company but has no idea how best to pitch his interview ....the fee...a meal out next time he sees meguess I can't chase that invoice.
Managed to clear out 3 drawers in the dining room and was pretty savage so any cables with no known identity went along with stacks of pens, pads and some ancient tech all being kept "just in case" of course If I have time today I will continue the job.
Food wise its burger night so easy peasy and some pasta left over for a brunch.
Have a good day all14 -
Good morning folks.I'm not liking the dark mornings and know it'll only get worse. My breakfast date was lovely again. It's so good to sit and chat about things other than how bad things are. We lingered until almost lunch time just chewing the fat. In the afternoon I eventually found the box of colouring pencils which DM had wanted for ages. Looking in all the natural places had been fruitless so it was very pleasing to have got them. DM then sat for ages drawing which really made her happy. She used to be a very keen painter and the place is full of boxes and boxes of tubes of paint of various sorts. Such a shame that they are now unused. This morning is cleaner time and then this afternoon the new boiler installation is being checked over. There's stuff in the car for both the tip and the CS though I won't go today. My flu jag appointment has been rearranged for Saturday afternoon, not an ideal time but I turned down one at 7.30pm. 😀 Now I need to ask about the pneumonia vaccine too.Happy MSE Thursday to all.13

Morning everyone
Just finishing breakfast then I'll be off to work. At least its dry today so the kids should get out into the garden - it makes for a long day when they're shut in all day.
I had tea at mam and dad's last night - she made a lovely fish pie and lemon meringue for pudding. It was quite dark when I walked up home just before 7pm.
Little one is coming for a couple of hours when I get home from work - I have bolognese sauce out the freezer ready for tea so will just need to cook some pasta to go with it.
Did some Xmas shopping on Amazon on Tuesday night - I have 5 children to buy for and they're all now bought and also got little one's present for her 2nd birthday on 3rd January. I feel very organised! Doesn't seem possible that she's nearly two already!
Better move - hope everyone has a good day

Morning All
Lovely and bright again this morning, DGD's bedding is on the line - she's going home today. It's been lovely having her here on her own, she's a breeze and like me will go to the swimming pool every day! In fact we are going for 9am before I take her to meet with DS1 and DGS. I'm going to meet with friends after as they live near the handover point.
Nice swim yesterday then met with DD for lunch and a walk in the afternoon. Little Sophie fell the other day here, glad to see her lip was looking much better (she put her tooth through her lip).
DW just about to go on then I'll hop in the shower. The housework can wait until tomorrow, I'm going to have a rest tonight. Take care. XX11 -
Hi everyone,TA, GD's are very talented, I love hearing how active they are, so many children these days don't seem to get much exercise at all. Hopefully Esben will enjoy sports as both his parents did and do, the days we used to spend watching Laura and Chris in some activity or other (I used to leave the watching of football and rugby on cold days to Steve, brrr).
Speaking of exercise we were back at Chris and Crystal's yesterday, Steve to mow the lawn (huge) and me to continue picking grout out of the bits of tile that shouldn't have it there. Crystal was happy because the plumber was supposed to be coming on Friday to put the boiler back and now he's not. He's said he'll come on Monday and get all the work done then. As it includes a new pressurised hot water cylinder, radiator and plumbing for the washing machine I really don't think he will be able to. I feel for Crystal working all day in a chilly house.
Housework and shopping for me today. Steve has an appointment at Moorfields eye hospital this afternoon but of course I can't go with him. He's booked a first class rail ticket down and is going to walk the couple of miles from King's Cross, then Chris is going to pick him up. The cataract he got from his cancer treatment is getting worse and there is no prospect of another NHS appointment anytime soon so we've decided to bite the bullet and pay for it ourselves. We're lucky to be able to afford it but I feel for all those people waiting for treatment with no idea when it's going to happen.

Morning all
Bright and sunny here but very chilly I have a wash on the go which I can hang out today.for a while, dd is off to a meeting today so it will be me dog walking alone today.
I made the picalilli yesterday and the first taste test went well its very tasty I have put it up to mature for a while, Nels one has your name on itit was really easy to make and I will do it again.
I think I might do a lasagne for dinner tonight although I hate making it as I find it fiddly with lots of steps I love eating it so will make a big one today and freeze some.
DW needs emptying and the downstairs needs a sweep and mop.
Snoozer I hope all goes well with Steve x
Have good days all xx13 -
Morning all.
ScarletRibbons, I think we all have days like that. When I get one I just concentrate on getting one thing done. Sometimes that one thing spurs me on to keep going. If it doesn't at least one thing has been accomplished.
TA, well done to your golfing dgd. I am in awe of these athletic youngsters. As one who considers getting out of bed in the morning a sufficient workout for the day, I was blessed with one sports mad son who excelled at everything he tried. Except cricket. Much too slow for him, all that waiting around. The other son was much slower and more placid, but has much more stamina, he plods on relentlessly.
Snoozer, well done on passing on the games-watching duties. I remember only too well standing shivering in the teeth of an easterly gale watching small boys rolling about in the mud.
Not much fun in store for me today, unless you count trying to find my floor. I lost my Christmas knitting bag and had to turn out bags, boxes, cupboards and drawers in an effort to track it down. I found it eventually, just after I had ordered a whole lot of new wool. The Law of Sod doesn't come close. Anyway, the chaos has to be sorted out and as soon as I feel I can't put it off any longer it will begin.
Coffee first.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Starting the day with an early morning run is a great way to make sure that your day can't get any worse.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.11
