It seems odd to me too. The previous owner of our house was an Orthodox Jew and, as per, put up an extension with a second kitchen in it. I don't recall our lender batting an eyelid, however the mortgage was approved many years ago. We, gentiles with no use for it, removed the second kitchen shortly after moving in. Is the lender getting windy about the kitchen per se ,or is it bothered by the basement conversion as a whole?0

Surely it's an art studio? Sink for your brushes and watercolours etc, cooker for batik pots, boiling your dyes etc. Just fit it out with some easels and canvases and there you go. I would love to have an area like that as my studio.2
