Eon forcing bill payment on line

Online only accounts are nothing new, I imagine their current T&C will allow people a free exit if they do not wish to continue under the new terms...

Providing reasonable notice in changes to terms and conditions is given, its not unusual.Customers unable or unwilling to go online can leave without cost to go elsewhere. Not convinced regarding the environmental BS,its being done primarily for profit.1

Is it reasonable to expect all their customers to be online?Realistically in this day and age if you're not online yourself, you can get online via internet cafes and libraries and the wifi at Tesco if you must. After all, one has to claim benefits online, so its no real stretch to manage your utilities online, surely?0

If they don't wish to make use of the online offerings to get the better deals that's up to them. But they'll miss out. The way the world is means the better deals are online, and this will only increase in the future.0

Thank you for the comments on the thread, I thought I would just clarify.
We are trying to help our customers go digital. We've made this decision as we noticed a large number of customers were using our online platform to enter reads and make payments etc but they didn't have an online account. So those customers will now have an online account set up as long as we have a valid email address.
If you decide you wouldn't like to get your bills online then you can finish setting up the online account and change your preferences to ensure your bills still arrive in the post and to update your marketing preferences too so you don't get any promotional emails from us.
This option is only targeted at customers who have used the website for anything in the past, so if any elderly, vulnerable or people who don't have the internet haven't visited the website for any of the reasons above then they wouldn't have been contacted.
We can also change the accounts back to paper bills if needed as well.
Thank you

Thanks for this. Id love to know why eon felt it was OK to just change people with out asking them first.Maybe they would like it if i sent them my terms and conditions advising them as of now Im charging them for having to go online and change my settings. They should have sent us a letter asking if we would like to switch to online and not force everyone to be online even if they have created an online account in the past this gives them no right to change my settings for me . In the hope that people wont change .Also eon don't treat your customers as idiots. We are not daft enough to think its about being better for the environment. But more about them saving more money and making more profitsTime to start looking for a new company another lost customers....0
