Flying scrap heaps

aka Helicopters.
Here we go again - weather changes to reasonable and the garden becomes a nice place to be. But this also brings out these infernal helicopters - buzzing around apparently with nowhere to go and they are so b. noisy.
If a lorry or car went around on the roads making that sort of racket they would soon be pulled over by the cops, but not this lot.
Same applies to -some- light aircraft, flying too low and with unsilenced engines so they make an appalling racket which they kindly inflict on miles miles of area beneath.

This lot of flying junk heap fairies bother anyone else maybe?
My website has lots of info and photos from various Greek and Canary Islands esp. about walking. My profile has the site address cos not allowed to put it here.

Happy to say the only ones we get are the occasional police helicopter searching for criminals happens two or three times a year, they hover in the area for 30 - 40 mins making a lot of noise. Not bothersome enough to be a nuisance though.

I was expecting a thread about China airlines and Aerophlot, and any other flying scrap heap airlines.

You are kidding, if only, The Police don't want to know. I have to contend with noise every day, day and night 24/7. Not just traffic but the modified exhausts and boy racers playing there crap, you are fortunately lucky to only have noise in the Summer, I wish I could. I cant even sit outside in my backyard because noise comes there too, only way to relax is listen to my Ipod. At least I have the choice of what noise to listen too.

Hah. In my RAF days years ago we had to travel on Argosies - used to call them "Yimkin Airways" i.e. maybe it would arrive and maybe not..

Yep, bothers me, too. Oh the joys of living in the South East... Especially annoying when the low-flying helicopters ALWAYS want to come out during my little boy's nap times, and you have to have the windows open due to hot weather... Oh don't get me started...

    Sorry to sound less sympathetic.

I am sure the noise can be annoying when you sat outside. My mother in law use to live in Devon and there was an small airport nearby, she got the planes go over all the time, they used her house to identify where to parachute from so even in the hours when it was getting dusk she would have the problems of noise and people falling from the sky.

I was mealy pointing out that noise is unfortunately all to common and that we suffer all day with this mainly from people who live in more affluent areas with gardens who now use our street much to the annoyance of residents.

Sounds like you need to bring out the blimps!

Again, you really can't complain - I live under the flight path of East Midlands and it's the largest airport in the UK with the least night restrictions. It's mainly freighters, so big, old, noisy and heavy so we don't even see the benefit with holiday flights.
