smets2 smart meter blank

Since switching suppliers my gas meter has gone blank. The electric meter has been unaffected and works great but not the gas. i have pushed all the buttons and nothing - totally dead. However when i check my online account it shows meter readings have been recorded each month but with the gas the same opening reading each time as though i have not used anything. Is it somehow reading my usage in the background or is the data lost forever ?. My gas usage therefore keeps saying zero on my account. My control panel when interrogated also shows my reading as the same as when i switched and does not give a daily usage reading. The electricity function is perfect. Anyone know what could be going on. My supplier cancelled my appointment to change the meter and has not been in touch since.

    Gas smart meters are complex things, and battery operated, so it's not unknown for them to go wrong.  Raise a complaint with your supplier for not fixing it.
    If it sticks, force it.
    If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
