Payment to old supplier after switching

I switched from Avroenergy to EDF in April this year and after 5 months Avro have emailed asking for £181 to settle final bill. Can I challenge this as it took so long and there was never any communication to say I would get a final bill which I thought would be reconciled on switching anyway? Any ideas welcome.

Welcome to the forum.Does the bill accurately reflect what you owe them? It's easy to do the sums.If so, why do you think that Avro's other customers (many of whom may be in financial hardship because of Covid-19) should pay it so that you don't have to?The back billing rules won't apply after five months.0

5 months isn't that long. So no, it's not an excuse not to pay. If the bill is wrong, that's another matter.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
