When a company applies for a basic dbs check (on you), how long does that take to come through?
I received a text today informing me gov.uk are processing the DBS Check....

Basic check turnaround time aims for 14 days, but can be longer if there's a backlog.0

Also depends how many different addresses you've lived at, especially if you've lived in a number of different police force areas.Signature removed for peace of mind0

Mine took a week to process although the recruiting company took 4 weeks to activate the request, despite asking me to complete the online documentation 4 weeks prior.
Relevant to your addresses, it asks for details of those in the last 5 years. Relevant therefore to Police Force Areas of which checks are required, mine simply states it has a Police National Computer check.
Good luck.0 -
Have to undergo the basic DBS checks fairly frequently due to switching clients and the last one came back in under a week pre-covid... I dont know if as a "repeat customer" that enables them to do a shorter process or such but I was surprised how quick it was.
Worst case was about 6 weeks but I think that was partly my fault and not helped by them sending the report to the wrong address.0 -
I ask this because the company said they need to do a basic dbs check
i said to her i can provide the check my old company already did - i sent it across to her and she said 'wed still need to run a dbs check' (i thought they wouldnt as i sent it over to her as this would have saved time)
so now im thinking to myself, ill be lingering around for minimum 14 days maximum 40 days for this basic dbs check to come through, when i was supposed to start the new role on or around 19th october....... -_-0 -
Most companies do new ones. You could of committed a crime in the time between then and now.0

If you signed up for the update service
And if the new employer was prepared to accept updates
And if the checks required were at the same level (basic / enhanced / checking barred registers)
And if the new employer checked your ID
THEN your copy of the disclosure might be useful.
A few ifs in there ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

ive received a text from dbs gov saying the certificate is ready in my account -
will the company also be informed about this? do i have to send it across to them or do they already have a copy?0 -
I think what happens is that they are told your checks are complete, but you may need to show them your copy.
