Got a Watts Farm order for the day after Boxing Day and a Morrisons order for day before Christmas Eve. I'm thinking more Brexit prep than Christmas.1 -
Just over an hour and a half queuing for a tesco slot this morning. Plenty of availability in my area though. I find it incredibly stressful, I'm glad it's done. Good luck to anyone still queuing!0

It used to be possible to book Waitrose slots up to 25 days in advance, and there were always loads of slots available, but now you can only book 14 days in advance and they’re gone if you not quick about it. A real backward step and they are continually changing their website, it’s a bit of a pain to keep up with it.1 -

It’s hardly Waitrose’s fault there are no slots. The number of slots is controlled by how many vans they have.0

I have been online shopping since 2012 and that's how I do ALL my shopping now. I use Abel & Cole and Riverford for Christmas food, as it will all turn up. They will order more stock if they need it, based on orders. Not let me down once.
Whereas, it doesn't matter if you ordered from a supermarket 25 days in advance, it isn't guaranteed that you will get everything you ordered, on the day. In fact, I've had an email about Morrisons subs turn up, after the driver has delivered the shopping.
I order as far in advance as I can from supermarkets and change delivery slots, to get one delivery per week from A supermarket. I check what I have and amend, the night before. Sometimes I'll be adding a lot and other times, removing items. Anything I don't get from a delivery, goes on the next order.
There's a pandemic on and the Brexit transition period ends on 31 December. Supermarkets don't know how they will get fresh produce into the country from Spain and Netherlands. I would suggest also, that if you like Richmond sausages and Moy Park chicken, if you have the freezer space, stash some, because Northern Irish food will be under a new internal border.
Supermarkets are working hard under really difficult circumstances and customers have to be more flexible. Waitrose, for example, is not the only purveyor of Heinz baked beans. Corner shops, village shops, petrol stations, convenience stores, discount stores will all sell baked beans. Fresh food is sold by farm shops, farmers markets, butchers, bakeries, milkmen (coming back). If you can use the internet to buy knickers from M&S, you can manage buying meat, sausages, pies, fish, chicken and eggs direct from producers.

We have always imported food from non EU countries and we will continue to import food from EU countries.
It's bad enough people panic buying toilet rolls and pasta never mind Richmond sausages.1
