Servicing

I purchased my wife a new car from Fiat 2weeks ago. I wanted to purchase the 3year service plan but fiat wanted £998 . I looked on line and Mopar which is fiat offer the same service and same garage for £649. I then went on line and found that anyone that purchases the same car during the same period as ours get £300 off and is on offer at £349.  Now they are telling me that I am not able to have the discount as I am the second owner. The car we purchased was straight out of the showroom and only had 10 miles and were given no discount. It was purchased by fiat as a demonstrator but we bought it before it went on the road and we were the first to tax it. There is nothing in terms and conditions about being first owner.   What should we do?  Even the garage we purchased it from have said this is not right and Mopar should honour the deal.

Sounds like you're the second registered keeper. I'd be speaking to the dealer as in all intents and purposes you've purchased a pre-reg rather than a new car and if this wasn't made clear to you then you've been mis-sold. If this is the case you have grounds to reject the car altogether or demand a reasonable amount of money back to take this into account.

What does your V5C say on page 1, under "Number of former keepers"?

A garage wouldn't tax a demonstration vehicle, but it could already have been registered.

Did you ask for a discount? If you've paid list for a pre-reg, then you've been massively conned. Even with a single mile on the clock, with you as the second owner, it's worth maybe 80% or less of list.

I suspect the OP got an inflated price on their trade-in.
