OVO Energy refund - no longer a customer?

Options
Hi,
I've just received a cheque from OVO with no explanation of what for except that apparently, I asked for it (pretty sure I didn't?). I did read that OVO were issuing refunds for misbilling people (I'm an ex-OVO customer) but those refunds supposedly went out in January? Is this a scam, or have OVO just taken their sweet time finding me?
Thanks

It seems fairly common: out of the blue I've recently received a cheque for £2.54 from Shell Energy, and it was so long ago that it related to the time before they took over First Utility !

Sending you a cheque doesn't seem like a very profitable way to scam you...

  • Perhaps I bank the cheque, spend the money, then whoever has sent the cheques out (ie if it wasn't OVO) then starts demanding the money back, plus interest, threatening letters etc. Just a theory in case anyone else had received a mystery cheque recently. But thanks for stopping by.

Yes it is quite common. OVO miscalculated  a calculation and have been sending out explanation info and cheques.

But if you are worried about someone demanding the huge interests available back these day's then perhaps it is better to just shred it?  Just to be safe?  :*
