Amazon account limitation going round in circles

I opened a new Amazon prime student account yesterday . I loaded gift vouchers on and encountered a problem after I bought a top up to get extra £10 . My account was limited and they asked for proof of my debit card. They want a statement relating to the card to have my name and address. I have explained I can’t as it’s a debit card not a credit card it’s ,inked to an account for which I get a statement for so cannot provide . I have offered alternatives but still get same standard reply asking for same thing over and over . I have Amazon they obviously couldn’t help but forwarded to relevant team . Still same request . I have again contacted them by phone and have gotten nowhere . They will close my account if I can’t provide which at this stage I couldn’t care less I use another account through my daughter however I want my gift card balances back and am getting annoyed now . I have just had my 6th request for same details that I cannot give . The telephone people have supposedly sent them details again but not holding out much hope . In meantime I can’t order what I wanted as they have my gift vouchers . Frustrated that they don’t seem to read and respond they just send same request over and over and over . Where do I go from here . Thanks 😤

This makes no sense. Do you mean you don't get a paper statement? (Most banks will provide if you ask fir one) or are you concerned that your statement will have your bank transactions on it? In which case just black bar those.

Telling Amazon you cannot get a debit card statement (aka bank statement) just makes it look like you’re using someone else’s account.

They want a statement showing my name and address that has the debit  card details . Like you would get a credit card statement with your credit card number . Debit card number doesn’t appear on my bank statement that’s the issue . If it was credit card I wouldn’t have a Problem but how can you produce a statement with your name and address visible with debit card number on it. My bank account that debut card comes out of has a sort code and account number . They are adamant the last 4 digits on my debit card have to there as well as my name and address . I can’t do that no one can it’s crazy . They don’t want my bank statement with my name and address I could provide one of those even though I don’t get paper statement . I can’t win I can’t  get Through to the team dealing with it . The call centre is abroad and when I reply to request it’s the same request verbatim as original . Don’t seem to have the capacity to write their own request . I have another amazon account the card is linked yet they don’t seem to want to resolve it . I have gift vouchers loaded on or I would have told them where to shove it .

So they are being idiots. You are not doing much better. Statement + scan of front of card with the account number (and card no) on should provide enough evidence. May have to escalate it if the initial one is being an idiot but you can get there.

Well I have used amazon for 19 years with my debit or credit card and not once have I been asked to provide further information. Just yesterday my prime delivery arrived with my latest purchases. No problem!

Then again, I don’t go round putting money from one card onto gift cards to give to other people ad infinitum. Perhaps they see this as money laundering and as such, need to see proof of your funds.

My debit card also has my bank account number and I can get hold of off statements, not that I need to!

Provide them with your bank statement.  Give them what they want. If they then reply that it doesn't show your debit card number, argue the point with them then.  You never know, they might just accept the bank statement, and if they don't, you're no worse off.

Agree - My debit cards have my bank account number /sort code and this is also on my statement - I'd send them a picture of the statement and the card showing they have the same information....

I'm confused as to why the OP is buying loads of gift vouchers in a short space of time, (and presumably nothing else) as this probably looks scammy to them - so they'll have been flagged up for investigation.
