O/S Daily Tuesday 13 October 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, but dry underfoot, air if cool.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was fish, chips, beans for the menfolk, I had baked fish and veg. Tonight will be LO's from Sunday's roast.
Yesterday was ok, I was doing further training for other extra duties that we're going to be doing, but back to my normal role today, but more training tomorrow to continue what I started last week.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all dark but looks dry outside I am hopefully off to buy some wallpaper and paint for the main bedroom today we would have gone yesterday but there was a bad accident no one seriously hurt though on the main road near us causing gridlock for the rest of the day other than that no real plans may do some cleaning but I doubt i will over exert myself no cooking tonight we are out for dinner as it is our 30th wedding anniversary very MSE I have a 50% off voucher . DD1 is still in hospital hopefully microbiology will be able to decide on which antibiotic will help the best and she can be released at the moment she is on IV antibiotics to try to get the infection under control they also need another CT scan as ultrasound showed gall stones and sludge but CT said nothing there so not too sure . Right better get on can't stay in my pj's all morning .
Have a great day whatever you are up to xxSlava Ukraini11 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC for starting us off. Still too dark to see what's happening outside but we are forecast mizzly showers. And it feels a bit nippy so the heating is on for a short while.
It's two years ago today since I lost my lovely Bob. It's all still as fresh in my mind as if it was yesterday and hard to believe it's 2 years. As last year DD suggested we go out somewhere to cheer me up, So me, DD and the 3 girls are going out for tea to the carvery. As they are continuing to send 50% off food vouchers for Mon to Wed we are taking advantage of the offer. It's just a pity DS can't join us but the rules say no.
And onto the rules, we are now in Tier 2 and it's much the same as the restrictions we have already been under since early August!!. Except we can now meet up to 6 people outdoors, eg in a beer garden. Just a pity it's not the weather for it!
In the spirit of MSE I shall soon be pruning my Tesco order that's due tomorrow and replacing the luxuries with bread and jam!!! All thanks to last night's vet bill, which get higher and higher every month. £91.10 last night for the steroid injection, a few anti b;s and some different drops! And back again in a month! Better start saving now!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care and stay safe xx

Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.Happy anniversary Bella, hope you enjoy your meal out tonight, and that DD1 gets out of hospital soon.Dgd came for her tea after school yesterday, I collected her and we went to The Wo*ks on the way home - we love that shop!! we bought some Christmas craft stuff, though I still have some from last year, and she set to making Christmas cards as soon a s we got back. She enjoys crafting, and of course I've got all the gear for card making. So far she's made cards for family dogs !!After tea she did a jigsaw and another short cardmaking session before DH took her home.I need to tidy up a bit today, that's all I think, not much on the agenda. We would have had Dgs but he has a heavy cold, and his Mum didn't want him ro pass it on to us, plus she thought he was better off at home since he's a bit clingy at the moment. We might go to a nearby shopping cebtre to Holland & Bar*et - I startd taking turmeric a few months ago for arthritis pain, and it works!! Must admit I was a bit sceptical, but Dil gave me some, and they have made a difference, So I'll buy some more.Hope everyone has a good Tuesday, take care folks.14

Good morning folks.TA - such a sad anniversary, doesnt seem to be so long. Sharing the memories will be good. 💕Today is the birthday of my eldest nephew and DM's crossword friend. It was also the birthday of my dear Dad. Strange ways.I'm off to the tip with some stuff I dug out of the gas meter cupboard then to the garage for the new tyre and finally collecting a cake I'd ordered for this afternoon. DM's friend is coming for a birthday tea.The new boiler installation was smooth and stress free even though it took most of the day. It's much more efficient and so will save money on the bills.Right, must move.Happy Tuesday to all.12

Hi all,
Bella, happy anniversary.
TA, I hope you enjoy your meal with your lovely family, I'm sure you'll do lots of reminiscing because the girls will have lots of memories of their grandad, having spent so much time with you and him.
I spent yesterday afternoon on my knees scrubbing tiles. Chris and Crystal had bought marble floor tiles for their new utility which they didn't want filled and homed so they had lots of little imperfections, holes and so on. Unfortunately the tiler in his wisdom had spread the grout all over the surfaces, filling all said imperfections with grey grout. Crystal found something on line which said that a sugar solution left on the tiles would help removal so I was trying that out and it worked. It was still fairly hard work and I only did an experimental section but at least it won't be the disaster that it seemed at first. Poor Crystal, she is working very long hours in a house without heating and things have rather ground to a halt with the works because they are waiting for the lime plaster (listed building) to dry.
We're in tier 1 here but sister-in-law is in tier 3 on the Wirral. Laura and Brian are tier 1 but London is said to be going to tier 2 in a few days so we shall see.
We finished off the gammon last night with baked potato and veg so now I have to decide what we are eating today. I'm going through one of my doldrum phases where I can't decide what I want to eat and as a result we're eating more junk than usual. Steve is useless when I ask him for suggestions, he never has any.13 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Showery here today and chilly. Beano's been walked, I have no plans apart from a bit of housewife and some crochet.
I can't find the capelet pattern so I've dug out a couple of all blankets that need edging, I'll do those until I can find my knitting pattern.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all
Dry here this morning but rain due later, will get the pups out mid morning for a run, dd has gone to the office today for the day so I am on my own with the pups its far more difficult than it should be adding one extra pup into the mix !! I had words with a woman at the park yesterday she has a working type collie with manic eyes and the collie just wants to 'herd' my little pup around and around, pup will take it for a while and then growls at this collie to say back off but the collie wont learn, I asked the woman to take the dog away as she just stands and watches and laughs, she did eventually take it away but within moments it was back bothering againIm afraid I was very unladylike and told her exactly what I thought of her in a way a docker would have been proud off
so I hope she is not there today !!
Dinner tonight will be a jacket spud with cheese and beans and salad out vet bill was over £120 on saturday so cheap meals for us this week !!
Kitchen needs tidying and the washing putting away and the floors need a sweep and mop.
Bella Happy anniversary to you both and I hope your dd is able to ome home soon xx
TA hope your day is full of lovely memories xx
Have good days all xx12 -
Morning all.
Good luck with finding your knitting pattern Hester. I still haven't found my Christmas knitting bag. I've emptied every bag and box in the house. I'm going to have to do some urgent tidying up today as I can't keep walking over the top of the heaps and piles.
TA, I hope you have a good day with your family. A sad anniversary, but look! You've survived 2 years. The first year after losing someone is always difficult and this second year has been most strange, but you are still here.
Enjoy all the birthdays Gers. I take it that cake will be involved.
I've been ploughing through lots of legal documents to do with re-making my Will, setting up Powers of Attourney and putting everything into a Trust. I'm hopeful that everything has been signed and witnessed correctly in dozens of places.
I wanted everything to be as plain and simple as possible. If this is plain and simple, I'm 35 years old, 5ft 8 and drop dead gorgeous.
Oh! Money Saving..........let's see. I know. Never take a purse with you when you go out.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
When someone asks, "Are you crazy?" simply answer, "Yes."
Boom.
End of discussion.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.13 -
Hello just wrote a long post and lost it somewhereShort version.......... All things planned yesterday were done, then I checked my stores, I didn't want to double up when I do an online shop towards the end of the week and thus wasting money, so today I will update the computer database. Should take me all afternoon as himself needs to help. Will ring Dad tonight to get his shopping list too, I'll put both lists together as I'm not going to pay 2 lots of delivery charges.Tea tonight bacon, egg etc and the last of the mushrooms.Bella Happy AnniversaryTA ouch to the vet bill. Hope you have a lovely meander down memory lane.Gers enjoy the cake.Monna the heaps and piles on the floor will keep the heat in so MSERedRuby ouch too with the vets bill and
to the woman with the other dog.
Right must go and do something or the whole day will be lost.Take care and stay safenan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11 -
Afternoon everyone, I've made the Christmas cake and the house smells good. I got up before 5 to do it as it is meant to cook for 3. 5 hours but sometimes wants longer but not this time. Did another couple of jobs and in a minute will have some lunch.
Happy anniversary bellabella and hope you have fun .
TA am thinking of you, a sad day but I'm glad you have your family to share memories with.
Here we are in tier 2, I thought we might have been in tier 1 but not yet.
OH and DS about to go to the posh butcher today rather than ordering DS's organic meat online. OH and I don't have organic meat as so expensive and would be wasted on me, I'm not vegetarian but not massively keen on eating meat.
Monna what was in your Christmas knitting bag? If patterns, perhaps they could be replicated.
I am trying g to think of an MSE thing but nothing really springs to mind except that I'm wearing fluffy socks because am too mean to have the heating on.
Hope everyone finds something pleasant in the remainder of the day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12
