Civil Service Job Application

Hi guys,

I am in the process of applying for a new job role, via the "Civil Service Jobs" website, and was just wondering if i could get some guidance with the application if possible?

On the cv section, it asks you to upload your  employment history, which I have listed with bullet points of my duties etc.
However it then asks for previous skills and experience, followed by a personal statement of 750 words max.
I am slightly confused as to how to approach this, i.e. would I not be repeating myself again in the PS section, with what I have already written in the previous skills and experience section?

Thanks for any input.....its been 9 years since I applied for a new job! :/

  • As someone who has worked in the civil service over 5 years now what helped me be prepared at interview (and application to get there) the personal statement is a separate piece to highlight your suitability and meet the competencies in the job description. what helped me including the personal statement examples was " civil service success co uk " course if you google it for creating solid behavioural examples in my civil service application , personal statement, and interview, I got the civil service job promotion i wanted afterwards so very positive for me.
