Nuisance calls

Fed up of getting nuisance calls at home, if I'm filling in my details I started putting my work number. Now of course I'm getting the calls all the time at work - a pause then a foreign voice asking to speak to me. I'm sure the number keeps changing as I know they can do that - it's 01285 624309 today.  Claim to be from UK Today wanting to just ask you 3 quick questions, but if you do of course it goes on for ages and I'm sure just gathering info to pass on to others for more calls.

Today I engaged in conversation and was told UK Today is a lead generation company based in South East Asia. I asked if I Googled it I would be able to find it and was told yes. Except I have and can't find them.

Each time I ask to be taken off their database yet the calls keep coming - usually they hang up before you get a chance to ask them once they know you aren't playing ball. But today even having asked to be taken off the calls kept coming and I just ignored them.

Is there anything I can do? I don't think I can register a business number on TPS. I've not found any other info on UK Today or I'd report them.

I bought a TrueCall blocker years ago and it has worked wonderfully, can't recall the last time a spammer/scammer got through.

Call blocking phones are great for the domestic customer (I have had one for many years now), but I can imagine that if you are running a business you would want your potential customers to get through easily.

The call blocker does deliberately make that difficult.

Got an existing BT handset with TruCall that blocks numbers, but it seems some are still getting through while blocked (it shows as blocked on the caller display but still rings). Looking to get a replacement and go for whitelist only - how is the BT 8500/8600 whitelist populated? Manual input?

I know someone who has call blocker. He refuses to add anyone to his safe list. It is such a chore that I no longer phone him.

Perhaps they are telephone scammers. True, it is not very clear what they want. But I also could not find the name of the company you specified on the Internet. This is all strange. Because even if the company does not have a website or a Facebook page, there should be some mentions.

TPS is no use for non UK scammers who buy multiple databases and sell the ones who answer on .

I sometimes think scammers use TPS as a directory to call.
