Looking online it says that Lloyds Bank charges £30 to do a bank transfer to someone else......just been into the branch and they are telling me that there is NO charge to do this.....which is correct ??

It will be less than £100.....as of yet bank unknown, but lady in bank said it didn't matter if it was to another bankRetired (Early) April 20150

If its a UK bank then you are being told cobblers and they are trying to get you to do a CHAPS payment in branch which does cost around £30 but for £100 is absolutely needless as those are for high value payments.
Tell them you dont want a CHAPS payment, just a normal payment through the Fast Payments system.

Yes of course it is, the only charge for bank transfers from a UK bank to a UK bank are for Chaps payments which are usually only for mega transfers, usually when dealing with house sales.1

Thanks for that....I should add that I don't do online banking, so it would be an in branch transaction.....

That doesnt change the advice, it is still free. If they attempt to charge you £30, ask to speak to the boss.
I suspect you bumped into someone who didnt quite realise what you were asking for, though.1 -
