'So you're saying it's my responsibility to pore over paper bills to find out if my usage has increased'
Err, yes, it is EDF currently has around 6m customers in the UK. So, if billing monthly, that is 72m bills a year. And you seriously think that they are going to manually check your bills for you, but you can't find the time to do so? This is pure fantasy.
As very helpfully set out above by another poster, you now have only 3 resolutions available to you, and it's up to you to decide how you want to proceed. No free lunch, and no free laptop1 -
Oh Tim p yet another troll. No! Electric suppliers job is to monitor your usage & charge you for it obviously! I am responsible for checking it, which I wouldn't think to if I'm not being charged an abnormal amount. They had every idea of my usage & a massive rise & were fully informed it was a 3 bed semi with not so much as a tumble drier. Bottom line is they undercharged me & it's their job! To charge me correctly for my usage. Do you go to the supermarket & tell the cashier the total, duh!0

Arbed31 said:I might also add that before my meter was replace it was checked by a meter reader who said the serial no on the meter did not match the one on the paperwork. I raised this issue with EDF & was told it was nothing to worry about so for all I know I could have been charged for someone else's usage. I have no faith in my supplier to handle my account honestly or competently
Hmmm, that's rather a fundamental issue. Did you get to the bottom of it?

You just won’t accept the truth will you. Your bills, your usage, your responsibility. Good luck, I hope rest of us don’t have to subsidise your £9K debt.1

Rather than cross swords with posters on this forum, I suggest that you book an appointment with a Citizens' Advice Energy Advisor. They can look the evidence that you have used to support your EO case, and provide advice on how best to go forward. If you do nothing, The EO will treat your silence as rejection of the Decision and the supplier is totally off the hook.

The frustrating part of all this is that there are little hints here and there of things that might have led to a discovery reducing your bill, but it is all far too long ago to be able to do much about it.Very basic things like checking that the meter number matches the bill and a use check to see that your meter only goes up when you are using power might have revealed something helpful if done years ago.Sadly, by not paying attention to actual usage and owning the problem it has ended up where it is now with no practical prospect of discovering anything useful at this point.Sorry we can't really do anything to help with this from here...1

And really not helped by the OP drip feeding info that is fundamental: such as a potential issue that the wrong meter s/n was being billed? Was the EO aware of that, as, if so, the whole billing issue becomes redundant as presented.
I'm out of here too, as the OP only wants to hear what they want to hear.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Did you ever at any time contact your energy supplier and ask them to drop the DD payments to cover usage only?
if it got as far as the Ombudsman, I would imagine you have exhausted the complaints process and refused to believe you were using so muchBe happy, it's the greatest wealth0
