What type of damp do I have and how bad is it ?

Was due to move into a flat that was empty for 2 months but because of COVID had to wait longer 4 months. The damp was already here before I moved in.

Do you own the flat? If so, what did your surveyor say? If you do not own the flat, what did the landlord say?

I suspect people will need far more than a picture of a discoloured wall!
What is on the other side of the wall? (Outside/ inside)
What floor is the flat on?

You've definitely got water ingress from somewhere. As above, what's on the other side of that wall? You need to get your landlord to sort this ASAP.

My guess, if it's a partition wall, you've possibly got some pipework running to the floors above/below in that corner that's sprung a small leak.

Thanks for the reply it is located in the hall wall. i live in a converted house into flats. Is it the same in the kitchen ? (ground extension built onto house). And could the hole they left be causing it on kitchen ceiling and should there be an open gap ? . Pictures below

  • Are you saying you live on the ground floor and the damp is in the ceiling of the kitchen which is in an extension?

What roof is on that extension? Flat or pitched?
  • Oh that open gap looks like a vent with the grill missing

So where's that picture of the boiler in relation to the other pics showing the damp?
