O/S Daily Monday 12 October 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Yesterday lunch was roast pork, roasties, mash, swede, HG green beans, carrots, broc, peas, yorkshires and gravy - some LO's too. Tonight we may have fish.
We were chilled yesterday.
Keep safe and well x

Thank you for starting us off nmic. Up at the crack of dawn not sure if its because i had a drink yesterday or just a come down after finally getting DD2s wedding done . We had a wonderful day and the weather although chilly managed to stay dry and we had some sunshine so for that I am thankful it was actually a nice intimate affair just parents and grandparents then local golf club for Sunday lunch and a cake . Back to reality today as the house is a bomb site I left it clean and tidy on Saturday but 3 men getting ready it was never going to last I also need to go shopping for some fresh bits not sure what's for dinner tonight I shall have a delve into the freezer . The heating is on and I am just enjoying a cuppa before I take the dog out its cold and dark at the moment and I think we are forecast rain .
Hugs to all those who are unwell worried or looking after a poorly one
Have a good day one and all xxSlava Ukraini14 -
Morning
Bit of a manic monday today...well comparative to most other days anyway. Up at 4.30 ...why you ask? Who knows
Anyway washing nearly finished and dishwasher done.
The old boiler is been serviced this morning (stop giggling at the back) He sorts me out then goes over to mums and does hers too. After him I have 3 zoom conferences which I now loath and detest what happened to good old fashioned teleconferences? At least I didn't need to think how I look for those and what my background is like (cobwebs can be spotted)
After that I may collapse on the couch
Leftovers for dinner... ham veg and roast spuds and there's some soup from yesterdays cooking sesh for lunch if I fancy
Bella hope the day went well ...cross posted sounds like a perfect day x
Have a good day all

Morning folks
so glad the day went well Bella.
I’m the same with Zoom Nelski but own team is happy to switch cameras off for which I’m grateful.First a cup of tea then out with dog. Work today a reasonably paced so that’s good.Have a good Monday all x14 -
Morning all and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
I have a big list of things to get on with this week. I have already fallen at the first hurdle as thing 1 was make Christmas cake and that needed to be in the oven over an hour ago to free it up for DS and his midday breadmaking. Tomorrow will do, I will get out my pan in advance and so forth.
Yesterday was surprisingly nice though chilly, got some washing nearly dry.
Cooked some chicken with roast potatoes, cabbage and gravy, not a full Sunday dinner but nice enough.
I was meant to be going for a socially distanced outing with a friend this week but we are expecting further local restrictions so that might not be possible, don't know until we get announcements.
Bellabella I'm so glad you had a lovely day for your DD.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14 -
Good morning. It's so lovely that the wedding went ahead and was successful, you can relax a bit now Bella.I'm ready for the new boiler installation this morning. The corner has been cleared which didn't really take much as the wee TV is on a wheeled stand. The men will have to shift the microwave for me as it's too big and high up for me.My day will be spent in keeping out of the way whilst making sure DM has food and drink.Happy Monday to all.13

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. All is calm outside for now but it seems rain is forecast later.
BELLA so pleased to hear yesterday went off perfectly and was enjoyed by both families. Health and happiness to the newlyweds - at last!
Yesterday was a day of sloth and so today I must try harder! Lunch sorted - the usual soup defrosting, along with a bagel for a salad sandwich. My roast dinner yesterday was lovely and the star of the show had to be the tenderstem broccoli which was just delicious. I have the other half of the bag left to cook today to accompany the leftovers from yesterday.
It's check up day at the vets for Sparkle. As the allergy is on its way back again it will be another injection and further course of anti b's. DS is taking me after work. It's against lockdown rules to go in a car with someone not in my bubble yet I would be allowed to go in a taxi that countless other people have used throughout the day!! I know which option I feel safer with.
Have a good day one and all and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care and stay safe x

Bella, I'm so pleased your DD's day went well, she deserves it after all the problems she faced.
I had a quiet day yesterday (so what's new) but made a cherry traybake for Crystal, with mountains of buttercream (cake is just a delivery vehicle for the icing for Crystal). I also cooked a piece of gammon and boulangere potatoes for dinner so I made them a dish of potatoes and sent them a piece of the gammon, some broccoli and carrots because I knew Crystal had been working. Chris took it after he and Steve played golf. We're going over to theirs today to pick up some washing because their machine is still not plumbed in after 5 weeks, their utility room conversion is taking forever, they still have no boiler, so no heating.
I need to think about a meal for tonight, it depends how long we're at Chris and Crystal's but will probably be something using up the leftover gammon. Need to go as we have a tip slot booked so I need to take Steve a cup of tea and get him out of bed.12 -
Good morning, dull start this morning, and rain is forecast. So pleased yesterday went well Bella, congrats to the bride and groom!!I continued tidying and sorting yesterday, and DH actually put 3 jumpers in the charity bag, hardly worn, so that was a step forward. Mind, I sometimes um and ah a bit myself when it comes to getting rid,We managed a shortish walk yesterday afternoon, then back home for a pork stir fry meal. The pork had been marinating in 5 spice and soy sauce since the day before so was really tasty. All this talk of boilers reminds me that ours needs servicing - the man said last time it would need replacing soon. It's only 10 years old but apparently that's old for boilers these days.I'm wondering what's in store for us regarding further restrictions, we all probably are I suppose.Hope your little dog is feeling better now Redruby, poor little soul, what a shame. Also Sparkle TA, sounds as if that allergy will always be lurking.Pleased to here you are recovering well Mean Marie.Better get my arris into gear, I had a bad night last night so I'm a bit behind hand.Have a good Monday all - take care folks12

Morning campers! It is dull and dreary but who cares, the roof is now on so we can start laying the floor. Looks kind of industrial smoking shelter at the moment but twinkly lights [last step in the plan] will hopefully change that. I discovered I need a new riveting gun, the one I had - had because I've already chucked it- needed taking apart to release the shaft after use and after having to do that twice i gave up. If there's one thing I hate, it's fighting with tools that are designed for something and fail to live up to the use they were made for.I made a fish pie yesterday so we have that again tonight. It was nice to have some real live vegetables for a change, cabbage and broccoli, yum. Bonus is that I used up all the milk to poach the fish and make the sauce, along with a pan of parsley sauce [ parsely from garden] so we only have two pints now before the next delivery tomorrow and I haven't wasted any. I should just reduce the order but I remember this from before when I was a child and we had milk delivered, you can never tell how much you're going to use so it was either feast or famine but in those days, feast meant rice pudding on a Sunday. Perhaps I should have made that instead... Anyway, onwards and upwards, painkillers and ankle support, sand and slabs, here I come.Bella, great news, glad it went well, what a relief after all the delays! TA, oh, poor luv, she's having a hard time....I don't blame you, when you think of the degree to which other people are in contact with other people, a taxi seems a bit of a coronavirus soupfactory to get in. Nelski, zoom meetings?Ew! I only had the one before and that was plenty thank you.... Snoozer, traybake? Did someone cay cake? Imagine meerkats popping their heads up from this end of the keyboard
camelot, nail jelly, ::snort:: phew to negative testing. Ruby, poor pup, hope she's better today! Hey all reading along, watch out for mad bad Monday!

Morning all
Thanks for the thread Nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
I've been reading the reviews of the lodges we are going to stay in, next month they are quite varied and a couple of them made me laugh. One reviewer complained about the lack of places for dog walking, obviously the tow path wasn't acceptable and another reviewer complained about the view, all he could see were boats! Erm that's usually what you can see if you stay in a marina.
The reviews rarely affect my decision to stay anywhere.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.8
